Feather Canoes is the home of the Wee Lassie, a Classic Cedar Strip Solo Canoe as Designed by Master Woodworker Henry A. "Mac" McCarthy, author of "Featherweight Boatbuilding". Feather Canoes offers full size patterns and Mac's How-To book "Featherweight Boatbuilding" enabling even the novice boat builder to successfully build a cedar strip canoe.

Feather Canoes

Feather Canoes is dedicated to preserving the heritage of Henry A. “Mac” McCarthy, and his passion for teaching others how to build their own Cedar Strip canoe.

While we no longer have a public shop, we are still building canoes in our garages, as anyone might who is building a Wee Lassie for the first time.

We also continue to offer full size paper patterns for Mac’s Canoes, the Wee Lassie, Wee Lassie 2, The Big Mac and the Sairy Gamp.  All patterns are reproductions of Mac’s original hand drawings, and have been used to build hundreds of canoes.

We also offer Mac’s book “Featherweight Boat Building” published by Woodenboat, as well as Feather Canoes shirts and other related items.
