Featherweight Boatbuilding

It is Mac’s mission to open your eyes to the natural beauty around you. He does so by providing this “course” to create and use an ideal double-paddle canoe. It’s strip-built, over molds. And, the book includes drawings and mold dimensions, so you can truly build right from the book. In addition to building the hull, he shows you how to make a caned seat, as well as an elegant double-paddle.

When he was not building canoes at his shop in Sarasota, Florida, Mac would teach at WoodenBoat School. Each summer he would carry his canoe atop his minivan, and travel up to Maine, stopping off at lakes, swamps, and ponds along the way to do a little exploring.
